My.. Hovercraft.. ess .. full.. of cars.. 1989 Honeymoon (still married, even after I took her to see Thunderbirds FAB instead of Miss Saigon). Knew this footage would come in handy. Big freaking hovercraft. People left and right, cars in the middle. 4 big turboprops and big rubber skirt. Like flying a really noisy bumpy turboprop 5 feet over the water (and now you know why they retired them) Spectacular british 1960s technology like SSTs, hydrofoils and vertical takeoff planes (well, the Harrier worked) that didn't quite make it into the 21st century. I loved this stuff as a kid. Replaced by catamarans and the chunnel, Russians use armed hovercraft, USA uses LCAC cargo assault craft.(less)
