CNS Almirante Cochrane (ex HMS Norfolk), a Chilean Navy Type 23 Frigate, enters Portsmouth Harbour.HMS Norfolk was laid down in 1985 by Yarrow Shipbuilders. She was launched on the Clyde by HRH the late Princess Margaret, the Countess of Snowdon in July 1987. She was commissioned into the Royal Navy in November 1989. She was the first of the Type 23 or Duke-class frigates. Norfolk was decommissioned in April 2005 and in June 2005 it was announced that she would be sold to the Chilean Navy. She was commissioned into the Chilean Navy on 22nd November 2006 as Almirante Cochrane.
