So I get home to review my surfing footage of the day and am shocked to find that I captured the solar eclipse of July 21st by accident....or at least I think I did. This was at around 6pm, Hawaii time, which is when the eclipse was happening. If you notice and pause the vid, you can see a little black dot dead-center in the middle of the Sun, which I believe is the moon. I know it's tiny, but I think it's just a perspective thing. It's not a water spot, as some have suggested, as it moves with the Sun and not the camera. Anyone who can explain why it looks like this please respond, as I've never seen eclipse footage or photos quite like this. Might also have something to do with the camera lens, which is a unique type? JUly 21, 2009
