Retired Navy warship USNS General Hoyt S Vandenberg was intentionally sung off the Gulf of Mexico Wednesday. The ship sunk in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary in less than 2 minutes. It went down like a rock. Everything looked smooth, very smooth, said a spokesman for the Florida Keys Tourism Council. The Vandenberg was decommissioned in 1986. It appeared in the 1999 movie Virus, starring Donald Sutherland and Jamie Lee Curtis. (less)
