STORY:
The Nepalese Army is mounting rescue missions as floods ravage Central Asia. The torrential rains are causing havoc across India, Bangladesh, and Nepal, displacing millions. Officials are saying this is the worst flooding in fifty years.
The flood began when the dam on the Kosi River in Nepal broke. The resulting waves of water smashed mud embankments in the downstream state of Bihar, one of India's poorest regions.
The waters in southern Nepal have receded but bridges remain down and roads are inaccessible in several places across the country. Indian army troops helped evacuate more than one hundred twenty thousand people from floods in eastern India, but more bad weather raised fears that rivers would continue to overflow.
